The total amount of salaries of Senators during the period of the last Seanad was approximately £2.4 million.
Maintenance costs directly attributable to the Seanad, i.e. secretarial assistants and other staff, amounted to approximately £680,000. This figure does not include costs of services shared jointly between the Dáil and Seanad, e.g. the structural maintenance of the Leinster House complex is managed by the Office of Public Works as a single undertaking. It is not possible therefore to identify their costs attributable to the Seanad separately.
