Vol. 381 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 5, 1, 9, 10, 16 and 2. It is also proposed that Nos. 1, 9 and 10 shall be taken without debate. It is further proposed that the proceedings on the Second Stage of No. 16 shall be brought to a conclusion if not previously concluded at 1.30 p.m. and that the speech of any Member called on shall not exceed 20 minutes and the Minister of State at the Department of Energy shall be called on to conclude the debate not later than 1.15 p.m. It is further proposed that the Dáil shall meet tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. and shall adjourn not later than 4.30 p.m. and that the business shall be confined to Estimates for the Public Service.

May I have the approval of the House for the proposals in relation to dealing with Nos. 1, 9 and 10? Agreed? Agreed. Is the proposal in relation to No. 16 agreed? Agreed. Is the proposal in relation to the sitting for tomorrow agreed? Agreed.

We have been promised a water pollution amendment Bill and I should like to ask the Taoiseach if we can expect it this session.

No, I am afraid that it will not be in this session.

In regard to legislation to give effect to the recommendations of the Barrington Committee on the health and safety code at work, I should like to ask the Taoiseach if that will be published this session. Since the Taoiseach seems dubious about that I should like to ask him if he would at least attempt to have it published even if it cannot be debated until the next session.

The Deputy will have to find another way of raising this matter.

I realise that the Taoiseach's knowledge of the activities of some members of his Government is somewhat limited——

Is the Deputy referring to legislation that was promised?

This legislation has been promised on umpteen occasions. I should like to remind the Taoiseach that it was promised in at least three chapters in the Programme for National Recovery.

Are we talking about legislation before the House?

As a concession only to the Deputy, I should like to tell him that it will not be taken this session.

That is an improvement in the performance.

I should like permission to raise on the Adjournment the deaths and repression in the occupied territories of Palestine.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
