Vol. 384 No. 1

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

39.

(Limerick East) asked the Minister for Finance when he will announce the decentralisation of the staff of the Revenue Commissioners to County Limerick, Nenagh, County Tipperary and Ennis, County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The decentralisation programme announced on 27 March 1987 reactivated the programme originally launched in 1980 which included provision for the transfer of staff of the Revenue Commissioners to Ennis, Limerick and Nenagh.

The most up to date position is that an advertsiement was published in the newspapers on 4 November seeking applications from developers interested in tendering for the provision of accommodation for decentralised Government offices in Ennis and Nenagh.

The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Wednesday, 30 November 1988.

The means of providing accommodation in Limerick is under active consideration and I would hope to be in a position to make an announcement in the matter shortly.
