Vol. 384 No. 2

Written Answers. - Dublin Motorway Scheme.

170.

asked the Minister for the Environment in view of the lack of consultation with local groups, if he has received a request to meet with a delegation representing the Palmerstown Community Council, Dublin 20 to consider viable alternatives to the proposal to close the old Lucan Road at its intersection with the Western Parkway Motorway, Dublin 20; if he will accede to this request; if so, when; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Dublin County Council (Western Parkway, Lucan Road-Navan Road) Motorway Scheme provides for the extinguishment of the public right of way on that part of the old Lucan Road which is traversed by the Western Parkway Motorway (including ramps). The motorway scheme was approved on 22 December 1986, following the holding of a public local inquiry into all matters relating to the scheme.

I am advised that it is not technically possible to retain the old Lucan Road at this location. The Palmerstown Community Council have been advised of the position and have also been informed that officials of my Department will be available to discuss the matter.
