37 Mr. S. Barrett asked the Minister for the Marine the reason aquaculture licences have not been granted to companies (details supplied), applications for which were lodged more than a year ago and for which the proper procedures have been followed; when it is proposed to grant licences; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department are currently finalising their processing of these licence applications, which had remained inactive for some time due to the emphasis, primarily for environmental reasons, on the licensing of finfish projects.
I would expect that the relevant licences will issue, subject to final clearance, within the next two to three weeks.
