Written Answers. - Defence Forces Promotions.

Ceist:

90 Mr. Barry asked the Minister for Defence whether there have been promotions for members of the non-commissioned ranks to the Defence Forces recently; if not, the reason for this; and when he proposes to allow promotions to take place again.

Since 1 January 1992 some 25 NCOs have been promoted to higher rank while a total of 22 privates have been promoted to corporal rank. In 1991 there were 113 promotions within the NCO ranks and 179 privates were promoted to the rank of corporal.
