94 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if, in the light of the response from the Minister for Education (details supplied) he will outline whether he has any plans to award scholarships/grant aid to the children of the low paid/unemployed workers who are not covered by the list as supplied by the Minister for Education (details supplied) and who wish to attend summer school in the Gaeltacht areas.
Íocann mo Roinnse deontais le mná tí Gaeltachta chun cur ar a gcumas foghlaimeoirí aitheanta a bhíonn ag freastal ar chúrsaí Gaeilge i gcoláistí samhraidh a choimeád ar iostas.
Is faoi scéim na bhFoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge a íoctar na deontais sin agus tá soláthar de £1,520,000 ar fáil i mbliana chun freastal ar an scéim sin. Mar thoradh ar na deontais, laghdaítear na táillí a bhíonn le n-íoc ag tuismitheoirí na bhfoghlaimeoirí.
Níl sé i gceist ag mo Roinnse cúnamh sa bhreis air sin a chur ar fáil do dhaltaí a fhreastalaíonn ar chúrsaí Gaeilge sa Ghaeltacht.
