Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to the Ceann Comhairle under Standing Order 20 (3) (x) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Deenihan — the refusal by the Minister for Education to grant recognition to Baile an Locaigh portion of Coláiste Pheig Sayers, Ballyferriter, County Kerry; (2) Deputy Flaherty — the nature and full extent of the radioactive pollution discovered in seaweed on the Sellafield shoreline and whether any tests have been done to ascertain levels on this side of the Irish Sea; (3) Deputy Gregory — the use of sick and diseased hares by the Irish Coursing Club at the national coursing finals in Clonmel in contravention of licence conditions and the resulting unacceptable high level of kills at Clonmel and other coursing meetings this year, all of which is seriously damaging Ireland's image abroad; (4) Deputy Fennell — the involuntary committal of a person (details supplied) in May 1991 and whether irregularities occurred; (5) Deputy de Valera — the delay in the building programme for St. Joseph's Community School, Kilkee, County Clare which is causing grave concern to parents, teachers and pupils; (6) Deputy Sheehan — in view of the decision taken by the EC Commission to approve the introduction of an energy tax, whether the Minister for Energy will state the plans he has to safeguard the contribution of the wind energy system in Cape Clear and the promotion of similar systems throughout the country; (7) Deputy Dermot Ahern — the difficulties caused by the recent Slane concert; (8) Deputy Shatter — whether it is intended to hold an internal inquiry into the investigation of the incident in the Phoenix Park last summer which resulted in the death of a German student; and whether new guidelines will issue to the Garda to ensure correct legal procedures are adhered to in the conduct of such investigations; (9) Deputy Gilmore — the refusal by the community welfare service to pay supplementary welfare allowance to the dependants of postal workers who are still working but who are not being paid wages by An Post; (10) Deputy Moynihan — the serious position in relation to the inadequate sewerage system and water supply in Kenmare town, County Kerry; (11) Deputy Spring — if, in the light of recent serious incidents, the Minister for Foreign Affairs will outline the steps he proposes to take to secure the withdrawal of the Parachute Regiment from Northern Ireland; (12) Deputy Kemmy — reported initiatives aimed at a resolution of the dispute in An Post; (13) Deputy Pattison — the apparent serious lapses of procedures which have led to the collapse of the prosecutions case in the case of a murdered German visitor to Ireland; (14) Deputy Ryan — the crisis that exists at Scoil an Duinninigh, Malahide, County Dublin, due to the lack of accommodation for September, 1992; and (15) Deputy Kenny — the necessity for immediate Government action to safeguard 40 jobs at the Atlantic Rubber Factory in Belmullet, County Mayo, which factory is the only male employing industry in the north-west Mayo area.

The Ceann Comhairle has selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Kenny, Deenihan and de Valera.
