Vol. 424 No. 5

Written Answers. - South-Eastern Health Board. Expenditure.

Theresa Ahearn

Ceist:

126 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health the extent of the over-run by the South-Eastern Health Board of allocated expenditure for 1992; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I will be seeking additional funding in 1992 by way of a Supplementary Estimate to cover elements of health expenditure not provided for in the original 1992 Health Estimate and largely as a result of increased pressure on demand led schemes. The precise adjustments to non-capital allocations will be discussed and agreed with health agencies shortly.

My Department is involved, on an ongoing basis, with the task of monitoring health agencies expenditure within approved allocations. In the case of the South-Eastern Health Board, my officials will meet with officers of the Board shortly to agree the detail of adjustments to its allocation and its expenditure projection to the year-end. While it is difficult, at this time, to be precise in regard to a final year-end expenditure position for the Board, I have made it clear that expenditure must be contained within the final approved allocation for 1992;
