the State agencies which provide funding for economic and social development in the Border counties, including those with specific responsibility for the Border area.

In addition to the State agencies which operate nation-wide under the local development programme for which I have overall responsibility, the following bodies are in place in the Border region:
1. Partnership companies, which promote integrated development to tackle unemployment in disadvantaged areas:

Under the programme for peace and reconciliation, certain measures to combat unemployment and social exclusion, particularly arising from the conflict in Northern Ireland, are implemented by the Combat Poverty Agency/ADM Ltd. who have an office at 17 North Road, Monaghan. County council led task forces, to boost the regeneration of Border areas affected by the conflict, will be established when guidelines, which are being finalised, are issued by the Department of the Environment.
In addition to those bodies, other agencies operating in the Border counties include Forbairt and IDA, Ireland who each have offices in the north-west region, located in:
