Ceist:

29 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice if she has satisfied herself that the guidelines recently issued by her Department in relation to the petitions system fully comply with the decision of the High Court in the Geoghegan Case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9201/97]

Minister for Justice (Mrs. Owen):

The advice available to me is that the guidelines issued are in full compliance with the High Court Judgment of Mr. Justice Geoghegan in the Brennan case. They are intended to reflect the approach to petitions recommended by the High Court in that case.
