64 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if agreement has been reached with the British Government in relation to having RPII staff permanently on site to monitor the operations of Sellafield; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4386/02]
There has been no contact with the British Government in relation to having staff from the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland, RPII, permanently on site to monitor the operations of Sellafield. The RPII, in accordance with its statutory role, monitors the operations at Sellafield on a constant basis and meets the UK's nuclear installations inspectorate regularly in this regard.
