206 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the amount of money which has been allocated in the Estimates of his Department in 2002 for the implementation of the Control of Horses Act, 1996; the amount which has been spent to date; and the projects and local authorities to which payments have been made. [13860/02]

An amount of €2.5 million has been included in the Estimates for 2002 for my Department in respect of the implementation of the Control of Horses Act.

In the current year to date, my Department has reimbursed the following local authorities for expenses incurred in relation to the operation of pounds and other controls in respect of wandering horses.
