Vol. 559 No. 3

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

119 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason an application to the SEHB for a lighter more manageable wheelchair in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny has not been processed; if the application will be expedited in view of the urgency of the matter; the reason housing aids have not been provided for this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26195/02]

The provision of technical aids and appliances including wheelchairs to people with physical and sensory disabilities is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer, South-Eastern Health Board with a request that he examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
