Conservation ranger posts in Inishowen, County Donegal, south County Offaly, County Monaghan, Spiddal, County Galway, Dublin North, and Glenveagh National Park – two posts are vacant at present. The existing conservation ranger in Dublin North is operating in an acting supervisory post in another area. However, when required, and pending the filling of this vacancy, conservation rangers from adjoining areas are assigned to particular tasks in Dublin North.
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that preparations are in hand to establish a new panel for appointment of conservation rangers, which should allow vacancies to be filled promptly.
Conservation ranger areas do not generally correspond to county boundaries. The present deployment of conservation rangers is set out in the following table:
