I wish to announce for the information of the House that I received a letter of resignation on 27 August 2024 from Joe Carey, a member of Dáil Éireann for the constituency of Clare. In accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 230, the resignation took effect upon receipt of the letter.
I am sure we all want to join in extending our very best wishes to Joe, who has had some significant health issues, and his family in the challenges that lie ahead. He was a great colleague and a good friend to many people here. We wish him well and hope he returns to health and happiness in the future.
