JOINT COMMITTEE ON SOCIAL AND FAMILY AFFAIRS díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 27 May 2009

Business of Joint Committee.

Are the minutes of 13 May agreed? Agreed.

I propose the committee should continue in private session to deal with housekeeping matters before we hear the post-budget analysis from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, the Combat Poverty Agency and CORI Justice. Members should note that CORI Justice is coming before the committee in the context of the 2009 supplementary budget only. Members may not raise any other issues with it, especially those that do not fall within the orders of reference of this committee. Is that agreed?

No, it is not agreed.

No. The statement was given to us and addressed to the Joint Committee on Social and Family Affairs.

Why can we not comment on it?

CORI can say what it wants but we, as Members of the Oireachtas, cannot comment. There is no way I will agree to that.

Is it agreed that we go into private session? Agreed.

The joint committee went into private session at 11.05 a.m. and resumed in public session at 11.30 a.m.
