Vol. 46 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator McHugh that on the motion for the adjournment of the House to-night he proposes to raise the question on the following matter:—

"To request the Minister for Industry and Commerce to use his good offices with the board of C.I.E. to ensure that during the fuel shortage the commercial policy of that organisation is directed to securing the maximum use of public transport for goods traffic."

I am accepting that notice and the matter will be taken from 9.30 to 10 p.m., or earlier if the business for the day concludes.

Surely Senator McHugh is pushing a wide open door? Is not there statutory obligation on C.I.E. to do precisely that?
