Vol. 63 No. 4

Secondary Teachers' Superannuation (Amendment) Scheme, 1967: Motion.

I move:

That the Secondary Teacher's Superannuation (Amendment) Scheme, 1967, made by the Minister for Education with the consent of the Minister for Finance, be confirmed.

Question put and agreed to.

I suggest that the Seanad adjourn sine die.

I do not understand why we should adjourn sine die. The arrangement the last day was that the Bill which I introduced would be taken on the 17th. I have heard nothing to the contrary and presumably we are meeting next week to take that Bill in accordance with the arrangements.

I suggested that we should adjourn sine die because there may be some difficulty with regard to the Minister for Local Government. The Road Traffic Bill is going through the Dáil at the moment in Committee. I had hoped that between now and Friday or Saturday we might be able to see the position more clearly and we might be able to meet on the 17th.

The intention is, therefore, that we meet on the 17th to discuss that Bill unless the Minister for Local Government is detained in the Dáil on the Road Traffic Bill on that date.

Let us have a debate on education. I have nothing to do for the evening.

We have several motions down.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

Before that debate takes place I have to adjourn the Seanad.

The Seanad adjourned at 5.5 p.m. sine die.
