Vol. 63 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 1 on the Order Paper.

Could we have some explanation? Some of us have been waiting here since 11 o'clock expecting the School Attendance (Amendment) Bill to be taken. We find that the Minister's attendance on the record is not so good. Could we have some indication as to why this Bill, which was ordered for 11 o'clock, is not being taken this morning?

Quite simply, the Minister is not available because of another engagement. I was anxious to get it last night and that was not possible either because the debate continued until 10 o'clock.

He is scheming.

I take it that it is realised if he was a school child he would be subject to severe penalty.

Probably arrested.

Corporally punished.

Could I ask if there is any likelihood of this Bill being taken later today if the Minister can be traced?
