Vol. 65 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business as on the Order Paper, from No. 1 to No. 8 inclusive. It is proposed to take No. 5 immediately on resumption after the tea break and to resume the order when No. 5 has been completed.

May I ask the Leader of the House if he has any idea when Motion No. 15 is likely to be taken?

Certainly not with this programme. I have not any idea.

We should use some kind of transmission apparatus to get across. If he has not any idea at the moment would he be in a position to make inquiries from the appropriate Minister? May I ask him which Minister is likely to take responsibility —to sit in on this motion?

I direct the Senator's attention to the fact that there are several motions before his.

There may be but can he tell me which Minister is likely to have responsibility placed on him or is likely to accept responsibility for this motion?

Somebody will when it comes to the point.

If the Leader of the House is going to co-operate with the House on this matter surely at this stage he has asked some Minister to deal with the motion whenever convenient? Has the Leader of the House made any move to approach a responsible Minister on it?

Would the Leader of the House make it his business to put the onus on some Minister, and we have enough to spare, to come in and take the motion?

The answer is "No".

You do not intend to sort out who is the responsible Minister?

I answered the Senator's question.

If the Leader of the House is not in a position to get the motion dealt with, will he make it his business to find out what Minister will take responsibility?

When it comes to the point it will be dealt with.

This is a matter which has a certain amount of public importance and which will have a bearing on the public. I suggest that it is a matter which should be dealt with in the House and resolved in a responsible manner. I will raise it again in a very short time.

The Senator can solve the whole matter very quickly with a stroke of the pen.
