SECTION 71.

: Amendment No. 46 tabled by Deputy Rabbitte is out of order.

Amendment No. 46 not moved.
Question proposed: "That section 71 stand part of the Bill."

: I thought it was proposed to remove section 71?

(Limerick East): If the Minister will recall, I had an amendment which carried the same intent which was debated previously. My understanding was that the Minister had given a commitment that there would be worker directors.

: A new amendment was introduced which allowed a facility whereby the Minister could appoint a member of staff to be a director. Rather than utilising the Worker Participation (State Enterprises) Act, the Government has inserted a facility in this Bill whereby the Minister can appoint members of staff to be directors if it is desired.

(Limerick East): I am not sure if that meets our position. I may put down a Report Stage amendment to section 71.

: That is acceptable.

(Limerick East): I will also table amendments about the powers of the Minister to inquire into aircraft accidents in section 64. I understand that I have to give notice of that.

Question put and agreed to.
Sections 72 to 76, inclusive, agreed to.
