I move amendment No. 50:
In page 16, subsection (2), line 2, after "Board" to insert ", with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance,".

I move amendment No. 51:
In page 16, lines 3 to 12, to delete subsection (3) and substitute the following:
"(3) There shall be paid by the Board to the officers or employees appointed by the Board, out of funds at its disposal, such remuneration and allowances as the Board, with the consent of the Minister and the Minister for Finance, from time to time determines.".
This is a drafting change. The legal advice is that the new form of words proposed is more appropriate.
That is to ensure that Deputy Bertie Ahern can keep an eye on what the Minister is spending on the board, lest the Minister gets too generous to his own when he packs the board politically.
