Amharc ar fhreagraA Citizens’ Assembly on the Good Friday Agreement constitutional provisions / Irish unity is not planned and is not included in the Programme for Government. In the event of a future referendum within the consent provisions of the Good Friday Agreement, the Government would make all necessary preparations in accordance with the terms of the Constitution and the procedures of the Agreement.
Island-wide civic dialogue will remain central to our Shared Island Initiative. To date there have been more than 16 events engaging some than 4,000 civic representatives from across all communities. A Shared Island Youth Forum - with more than 80 young civic leaders from diverse backgrounds - was convened and met over a 12-month period and agreed a statement of their vision and values for the future on the island. The Shared Island Youth Forum’s Outcome Statement is available on www.gov.ie/SharedIsland. This is an important contribution from our emerging generation on how they want to shape the future.
