Ceisteanna (606)

Joe Neville

Ceist:

606. Deputy Joe Neville asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if his Department could look to increase the local authority home loan in Kildare, given that the figure currently is maxed at €360,000 and the average cost of a house in Kildare is currently above that figure. The Programme for Government 2025 commits to several measures regarding the Local Authority Home Loan, one of which is ensuring that the maximum house price limits allowed under the scheme take current house prices into account.

My Department has commenced work on reviewing the maximum income and property price limits to ensure the scheme remains accessible and relevant for aspiring homeowners.   This review, with relevant proposals, should be completed by the end of Q2 2025.
