Bunaíodh an Coiste agus é mar shainchúram orthu comhthoil a bhaint amach, bunaithe ar phrionsabail chearta an duine, ar threonna beartais i ndáil leis na príomhcheisteanna a mbíonn tionchar acu ar an Lucht Siúil. Tá an Coiste chun a thuarascáil deiridh a chur faoi bhráid dhá Theach an Oireachtais laistigh de shé mhí óna chéad chruinniú poiblí agus leis sin beidh sé lánscortha.
