Vol. 2 No. 41

[WRITTEN ANSWERS.] - STATUS OF THE IRISH LANGUAGE.

I desire to ask that the Agenda may be suspended in order to enable the Dáil to discuss the extraordinary action of the Court of Appeal in repudiating the status expressly given to the Irish language in the Constitution of Saorstát Eireann, by virtue of which that Court exists.

Will twelve Deputies support that request?

Twelve Deputies having risen in their places.

The question will be discussed at seven o'clock if we are sitting until 8.30. If it is proposed to adjourn earlier, some other arrangements will have to be made.

In order to suit the convenience of Deputies, I am satisfied if the discussion is taken at 5 o'clock, on the understanding that we adjourn at 6 o'clock.

Will that be satisfactory to the Deputy?

Yes, that will suit me.
