To ask the Minister for Finance if the Government will give a grant to individual workers to build their own houses at a cost of not exceeding £750, the worker to raise £350, and the Government to advance £400 as a free grant, as given to Urban Councils for housing schemes.

I am unable to contemplate the making of grants to private builders in respect of houses costing as much as £750 or on the scale suggested by the Deputy.
