Vol. 3 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - COMMANDEERED LORRIES.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Army officers in Enniscorthy commander civilian motor lorry drivers to drive troops about the Co. Wexford; whether these officers have proper authority for such action, and to ask what expenses he intends to pay for the work already performed, and whether he will give instructions for this practice to cease forthwith.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

I am not aware of the matter, but would be glad to have particulars of cases which the Deputy has in mind.

Will the Minister say whether there is any necessity for the commandeering of cars at all by the military?

Mr. O'HIGGINS

Well, naturally, that is not a question that I could answer. The Minister for Defence would answer that if the Deputy puts down a question.
