Vol. 3 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - DOUGLAS COMMISSION REPORT.

asked the Postmaster-General if he is yet in a position to say what action his department proposes to take with regard to the Report of the Douglas Commission, and, if not, can he explain the cause of the extraordinary delay in coming to a decision on this report which was presented to the Government some five months ago.

The final decision on the first part of the report of the Post Office Commission of Inquiry is one for the Executive who are still engaged in its consideration.

The whole problem is a complex one that requires to be closely inquired into, but I hope that a decision will be come to before long.

Is the Minister aware that there is very considerable dissatisfaction amongst Post Office employees at the inexplicable delay in coming to a decision on this report, which is now five months before the Government?

Yes, I am aware that a certain amount of irritation has been caused by the delay, which, unfortunately, is unavoidable.
