The next Vote we are taking is No. 13. I beg to move: "That a sum not exceeding £50,000 be granted to complete the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending 31st March, 1924, for loans for purposes of reconstruction." A sum of £50,000 had been voted on account. Last year was the first year in which this item appeared, and it will not occur after this year, I should say. This provides the sum of £100,000 which will enable us to make advances in respect of damaged property. The advance usually amounts to about three-fifths of the amount of the decree. It is a diminishing Vote, and let us hope next year there will be no necessity for it.
