Vol. 3 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - LETTERKENNY LABOURERS AND THEIR COTTAGE RENTS.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received a request from the Letterkenny Farmer Labour Union for an officer of his Department to visit the district with authority to deal with the situation created by the labourers' inability, owing to the prevailing poverty and distress, to pay the rents of the District Council cottages, together with the farmers' inability to bear any heavier burden of rates, and whether the Minister will accede to the request in order to relieve a very strained situation.

In compliance with a request of the Letterkenny Rural District Council, an Inspector of the Ministry will attend their next meeting on the 8th June.
