[ WRITTEN ANSWERS. ] - SKILLED TRADESMEN'S ARMY ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence what is the practice in regard to the time and method of payment of the daily allowance to skilled tradesmen enlisted in the Army, and whether he will arrange for the immediate payment of the allowances due to Vol. Dick Ingham, No. 3083, Engineers' Barracks, Curragh Camp, now residing at 18 Owen Roe Terrace, Cavan, in respect of his service in the Army from 21st July, 1922, to 6th January, 1923.

Additional pay at the flat rate of 3s. per day is issued weekly to skilled tradesmen who are soldiers and who are employed at their trades in the Army. Volunteer Ingham was employed as a labourer, and additional pay was not, therefore, payable to him.
