Vol. 3 No. 24

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - BARGE MEN'S AND FISHERMEN'S CLAIMS FOR COMPENSATION.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he has received claims for compensation from barge men at Enniscorthy, whose barges were taken by the military for some days during the month of April; if so, when he proposes to deal with them.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he has received applications for compensation from the Slaney fishermen in consequence of their boats being ordered off the river by military some time ago; if so, will he say when he proposes to deal with them.

In reply to both questions, I have received claims of this kind, and they are at present under consideration.

Will the Minister undertake to expedite this matter in view of the fact that these barges and boats are these men's only means of livelihood?

Yes, I am seeing that the matter be expedited.
