asked the Minister for Defence if he has decided to allow compensation to Joseph Mulkearns (Ref. No. 653/88), of Mount Street, Mullingar, who was severely wounded on December 12th, 1920, and was afterwards sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment; whether, as this man is physically unfit to earn a living, owing to disabilities contracted during active service, favourable consideration may be given to his application, which has been so long under consideration.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - MULLINGAR PRE-TRUCE CLAIM.
Prima facie it appears that Mr. Mulkearns is entitled to compensation under the Army Pensions Act, 1923, but as his case has not yet been fully investigated, I cannot say definitely. He was not wounded in action, but was badly beaten by Crown Forces. Consideration of his case will be expedited as much as possible.
