asked the Minister for Defence if he has received a claim from Mr. M.J. Geraghty, of Glenamaddy, Co. Galway, for compensation for motor parts and also for cash to the amount of £27 15s., alleged to have been taken by Military on the 22nd August, 1922; if he can say whether the claim has been investigated and if compensation will be paid.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - GLENAMADDY (GALWAY) INCIDENT.
The claim has been investigated. It is denied that any money was taken by troops, but parts of a Ford car were removed in order to prevent the use of the car. Arms, ammunition and Irregular correspondence were found at the time, and Mr. Geraghty was arrested. In the circumstances his claim cannot be entertained.
