Vol. 6 No. 12

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARIES.

asked the President whether his attention has been called to the fact that in Thom's Official Directory for 1924, the name of one Deputy appears as Parliamentary Secretary to the Executive Council, and that of another Deputy as Parliamentary Secretary to the President; whether the Oireachtas has up to the present sanctioned the creation of these posts; whether any appointments have been made to them, and whether the information furnished to the Directory came from any official source.

I have seen the entry referred to. The two Deputies mentioned acted in the capacity of Parliamentary Secretaries during the period of the last Dáil. Since then, and pending the passing of the Ministers and Secretaries Bill, they have continued to discharge the duties entrusted to them. The Ministers and Secretaries Bill, when passed, will necessitate a revision of the appointments. I should add that Thom's Directory is not an official publication.
