Vol. 6 No. 26

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MULLINGAR MERCHANT'S PERMIT.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether he is aware that a licence or permit to deal in shotguns and sporting ammunition was granted to Mr. Jacob Kemp, Mount Street, Mullingar, and that said licence or permit has since been withdrawn; further, to ask whether he is aware that since the issue of the permit, and before the said permit was withdrawn, Mr. Kemp had procured a supply of ammunition for sale to his customers, and that the cancellation of the permit without any notice will cause him considerable loss and inconvenience, and to ask, if in the event of the permit not being renewed, Mr. Kemp will be permitted to dispose of the stock in hands, or be compensated for his losses.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative.

Mr. Jacob Kemp was appointed an authorised dealer in firearms and ammunition on 18th December, 1923, and his certificate of authorisation was revoked on the 18th January, 1924. An importation licence for 2,000 cartridges was issued to Mr. Kemp on the 3rd January, 1924, and this quantity, therefore, represents the total number of cartridges he was entitled to stock.

There is no objection to Mr. Kemp making arrangements to sell the stock held by him to any authorised dealer.
