Vol. 7 No. 4

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RETURN OF GUN.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why a double-barrelled shot gun, No. 95,726, the property of Philip Gleeson, Clonolea, Toomevara, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, taken by the Royal Irish Constabulary on September 1st, 1920, has not yet been returned, although the owner furnished particulars in connection with the gun on 3rd November, 1923, to the Ordnance Branch, and if steps will be taken for the prompt return of the gun.

I regret that, although exhaustive search has been made in the Ordnance Department for Mr. Gleeson's gun, it cannot be traced. However, British Authorities are being communicated with in the hope that they may possess information which may lead to the location of the gun. I shall communicate the result as soon as possible.

Will the Deputy say if the owner of this gun will be compensated for it, in the event of it not being traced?

When the result of the inquiry is made known I would be glad if the Deputy would put down a further question.
