asked the Minister for Defence if he will cause inquiry to be made as to the delay in paying compensation to Mr. George Fawcett, Knevinstown, Co. Kildare, in respect of a valuable mare, his property, which was commandeered by the military in June, 1922, and which has not been returned to him.

Unexpected difficulties have been met in ascertaining particulars of the mare, which cannot now be identified. The delay which has resulted is regretted. However, a decision will shortly be made on Mr. Fawcett's claim.
