Vol. 7 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - CLOGHEEN CLAIM FOR O.A. PENSION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state on what basis the means of Mr. John O'Donnell, of Castlegrace, Clogheen, was calculated, when fixing the amount of his old age pension, and whether this man is not entitled to a larger pension than that of 4s. per week, which has been allowed in his case.

A claim from Mr. O'Donnell for the old age pension was disallowed on means on the 20th February, 1923. Since then his case has not come to me on appeal upon any new claim. I have no information as to whether he has recently been granted a pension of 4s. a week by the Clogheen Pension Sub-Committee or as to how the amount, if granted, was calculated.

It is open to Mr. O'Donnell to raise a question with the Pension Officer as to whether he is entitled to a higher pension than that stated to have been allowed. I have no functions, and I could not review the Sub-Committee's decision.
