asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a sum of £92 16s. 6d. is due to Mr. S. Jordan, boot and leather merchant, Athenry, on account of boots supplied during the months of February, March and April, 1922, to the National Troops at Renmore Barracks; whether repeated applications have been made for payment of this account without avail; whether the Battalion Paymaster from Tuam made investigations and vouched the account as correct, and whether he will see that immediate payment of this long outstanding account is now made.
WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ATHENRY BOOT MERCHANT'S ACCOUNT.
A claim for the amount mentioned has been received from Mr. Jordan, and is at present under investigation. It has not yet been definitely ascertained that there is a liability on Army Funds for payment, the goods having been ordered by a member of the Irregular forces. A decision on the claim is, however, being expedited.
