Vol. 7 No. 10

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DEPENDENT'S ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state why dependent's allowance has been stopped since February 11th, 1924, from Mrs. Mary Steers, Maigue View Terrace, Croom, Co. Limerick.

Payment to Mrs. Steers was suspended on the 9th February, pending investigation of an overpayment of an allowance issued to another dependent. A cheque was sent to Mrs. Steers on the 17th instant, which clears all arrears up to the date of her husband's discharge from the Army.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public, Health if he will state the cause of the delay in issuing superannuation allowances to the discharged nurses of the Sligo County Infirmary, and whether, in view of the fact that these nurses have been employed there for over thirty years, he will expedite the issue.

There is no enactment at present under which such allowances could legally be paid. The matter is, however, dealt with in the Local Government Bill which is being introduced today.
