Vol. 7 No. 12

WRITTEN ANSWERS.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received an application for dependent's allowance on behalf of Loughlin FitzGerald, Grantstown, Ballacolla, Leix, late Railway Maintenance and Protective Corps, at present stationed at Portlaoighise Barracks, Leix; if he can state the reason for withholding same for the past six weeks, and if he will give instructions for payment of whatever allowance is due without further delay.

In accordance with the terms of Defence Order No. 30 Dependent's Allowance was not payable to Mrs. FitzGerald after the date her husband re-attested for military service, namely, the 14th March. If they were married prior to the 8th October last, marriage allowance, however, is issuable. A form for claiming such allowance has been sent to Mr. FitzGerald. On its return, duly completed, the allowance will be paid without delay.
