Vol. 7 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DISSOLUTION OF DUBLIN CORPORATION.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if the order dissolving the Dublin Corporation and appointing three Commissioners to take charge of its municipal affairs is a permanent arrangement; and if it is the intention of the Government to deprive the citizens of Dublin of their ancient right of electing their own public representatives at the forthcoming elections.

The dissolution of the Dublin Corporation is not a permanent arrangement. It is not intended that the citizens of Dublin should be deprived of any of their rights; on the contrary, I am considering how the rights of the citizens can be most effectively safeguarded and by what method their views may most effectively prevail in the administration of the city.

Can the Minister say, on behalf of the Minister for Local Government when that report will be published, if it has been decided to publish it?

I am afraid I could not answer that.

Will the Minister endeavour to get that supplementary question answered, or persuade the Minister for Local Government to answer it before the sitting closes?

I will mention it.
