Vol. 7 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GOREY BLIND PENSION PAYMENT.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state why a blind pension has been refused to Julia Kane, Corbally, Kilena, Gorey, Co. Wexford, who has been certified by both an eye specialist and medical doctor as being unfit for work owing to defective vision.

The claim in this case was disallowed on appeal on the ground of insufficient evidence of blindness. There was no certificate submitted from an eye specialist, and the certificate from the medical doctor was not in accordance with the terms of the Act, and did not indicate blindness up to the prescribed standard.
