Vol. 7 No. 18

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ARMY SERVICE CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will have enquiries made into the claim of Edward Vernal in respect of the service of his son, James Vernal, Fair Green, Nass (late of Athy). Who served in the National Army at Naas for the period of ten months.

I assume the Deputy refers to Mr. Vernal's claim for Dependent's Allowance. A cheque for such allowance was sent to Mr. Vernal on the 27th February last, which cleared the claim which was assessed at 14s. per week as from the 15th May, 1923, the date of his application up to the 6th December last, the date of his son's discharge from the Army. In accordance with regulations the allowance is issuable only from the date of application.
