asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a house in Rathangan, Co. Kildare, was commandeered by the Military from Mr. James Hamilton, in July, 1922; that he was promised compensation at the time, but that no money has since been forthcoming, and whether he will see that this claim is investigated and discharged.
CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - COMPENSATION FOR RATHANGAN HOUSE.
I am aware that a house in Rathangan in which a Mrs. Hamilton resided was occupied by troops, and that other accommodation was provided for her. No claim in respect of the occupation of her residence has been received at Headquarters from either Mr. or Mrs. Hamilton. If particulars of a claim are furnished to the Chief Claims Officer, Portobello Barracks, Dublin, it will be duly considered.
