Vol. 7 No. 31

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - RELEASE OF CO. CORK INTERNEES.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is now in a position to favourably consider the question of the release of Michael Dwyer, Ballineen, Co. Cork; John Doyle, Kilmore, Bandon, and James Crowley, Connagh, Ballineen, who are at present interned.

Michael O'Dwyer was sentenced to three years' penal servitude on the 21st March, 1923, by a Military Tribunal on a charge of aiding and abetting attacks on National Forces. This sentence is under consideration. The question of releasing John Doyle and James Crowley is also under consideration. The decisions in the cases will be communicated to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Mr. MURPHY

Would the Minister take into account the fact that O'Dwyer has served nearly half the sentence imposed on him?

That is not a matter for me. It is a matter for the judges. I will look up their recommendation in the case.
