asked the Minister for External Affairs whether it is the case that the new law of the United States of America regulating immigration make it necessary for the intending immigrant to produce a "Prison Record" and a "Record of Citizenship," and whether, in the event of this being the case, he will make arrangements with the Minister for Justice to issue these records.

Article 7 (c) of the U.S. "Immigration Act of 1924," contains the following clause:—
The immigrant shall furnish, if available, to the Consular Officer, with his application, two copies of his "dossier" and prison record and military record, two certified copies of his birth certificate, and two copies of all other available public records concerning him kept by the Government to which he owes allegiance.
The administrative instructions as to the manner in which this clause is to be interpreted reached the American Consul only yesterday morning. Information as to the precise records required and the arrangements made with the Ministry of Justice will be published at the earliest possible moment.
